Hello, my name is Mia and my Yorkie baby's name is Zara.
Last night, around midnight on September 14th, my dog was perfectly normal. My mother was babysitting my dog while I am out of the state. My sister came home and picked her up to greet her. She was behaving as normal and excited, as usual. About 20 minutes later, my sister noticed Zara was licking. My sister texted me and said she thinks that she's in heat. But quickly realized that wasn't the case. Within seconds of sending the text, my sister called me and said that something was wrong. We quickly assumed that maybe she was going into labor and we hadn't realized she was pregnant. She was panting and seemed uncomfortable at this point. My sister rushed her to the emergency vet, where they took a look at her. They quickly said she had pyometra and breast cancer. They said if she doesn't have surgery immediately, she wouldn't live past two weeks.
Zara is a 4 year old Yorkie, with a lot of energy and personality. She loves people and she's the friendliest, sweetest baby. You will hardly ever hear Zara bark. She may yap if she wants to get up on a bed that's too high for her or if she's trying to get your attention and get picked up. She has so much more life to live.
We are asking for anything at all that you can spare at this point. I hate to have to ask, but we, unfortunately, were not prepared for an emergency of this magnitude. It's urgent and we need to save her life. The only way to do that is with this surgery. The surgery, hospital stay, and aftercare treatment are expected to come out to well over our emergency budget.
Thank you so much for any help. I will never be able to thank you enough.
