As many of you may already know -- Ashley, one of Rad Rover's amazing Pack Leaders-- had a veterinary emergency this past Wednesday with her beloved dog-daughter Yama.
Yama, who is one of the smartest and trail-savvy dogs around, made the entirely-out-of-character mistake of accidentally ingesting a foreign object (a sharp, 4cm rock, to be exact). This led to an abdominal obstruction that resulted in emergency surgery at 3:00am on Wednesday night.
Thankfully, Yama is going to make a full recovery, but as you can imagine, the vet bill was steep.
We are no strangers to vet bills (as I'm sure you all remember the hell we went through with Chanel last year). Sometimes they come when we least expect them and are least prepared.
I know that owning a dog comes with many responsibilities, and vet bills are just a part of it. Some people are better financially-equipped to handle these situations, and what a blessing; to not have to choose between the pet you love more than anything in the world, and money.
Ashley and her partner Cam had to go terribly out of pocket to save Yama's life this past week, and I'm trying to do whatever I can to help with this financially crippling situation they've been put in.
If you know Ashley, you know that she loves each and every one of the dogs we care for as if like they were her own. To illustrate just how committed she is; she was out hiking again with the pack bright and early 8:00am Thursday morning after having been up all night caring for Yama. She gives so much of herself to others at Rad Rover, and every other aspect of her life--from volunteering at the university, to her ultimate frisbee team T-Rad.
If you aren't in a place to help out financially, or if it isn't something you personally ascribe to---that's totally fine! Words of strength and encouragement are just as welcome. But we know that many of you would love to help out monetarily if there was a platform to do so. That is why I created this page. Every little bit helps to get this family back on their feet!
Thank you endlessly for your love and support for Rad Rover, our team, and our families--two-legged and four!
We are beyond grateful to have created this wonderful community!
