Help with Vet Costs for Stray Cat in New Home
Donation protected

Hi, my name is Rana and I recently took in a stray cat on Saturday night, January 22nd. This cat was found on the street around 54th & Haverford/Vine in West Philly. She was very friendly and affectionate towards me upon finding her. I decided to take her back home with me, as she seemed hungry and cold. I also have two other cats, Saturn and Jupiter, who I took in as strays over the past couple of years.
The next day, we took her to Philly Animal Hospital to get checked out. During her exam, they noticed some flea dirt and also suspected that she has a mild upper respiratory infection. When inspecting her eyes, the vet also noticed some corneal ulcers. Because of the other two cats that are already in the home, I was given three packs of Revolution (with three doses in each pack, for a total of nine dosages) in order to properly treat any fleas that the stray has brought in. This alone was $203. She was given antibiotics and an ointment for her eyes as well. The vet team estimated that she is 1-3 years old. After speaking with folks this past week, Nuru most likely had an eye condition called eyelid agenesis. To be seen for a ophthalmology consult, it may be up to $250. Treatment and surgery for eyelid agenesis costs thousands of dollars, which I do not have. She still has a long way to go. We have been keeping her here at home with us and she has gotten pretty comfortable. We would love to continue to keep her, but the costs are starting to pile up already. I have included a receipt below from when we saw the vet on January 23rd. The total was $429. The goal amount is at $500 to offset the service fee taken by GFM as well as the cost for the cat to get spayed and vaccinated. Thank you so much in advance! Anything helps! If you would also like to send funds to me directly, I have included my handles below.
