Hello everyone! For those who don’t know, Kenzie developed a tic disorder, basically Tourette’s, back at the beginning of COVID. This has caused her so many difficulties in life. Her tics get so bad that at times she looks as if she’s having seizures. We first saw Children’s Hospital Neurology and they diagnosed her with TikTok tics, told us it was all mental, threw some meds at her, and told us to seek counseling. Even after many years with many different therapists and meds her tics have not improved. She has missed more than half her school days because she can’t stop ticking in class. She has lost 2 different jobs due to not being able to go to work as she couldn’t interact with people when she was having a bad tick attack. Her typical tick attack looks like a severe Tourette’s flare. She cusses, flips people off, whistles, says horrible things to people, it’s heartbreaking. Kenzie is going on 4 months straight of tics from the time she wakes up and the time she goes to bed. She has missed out on a ton of normal teenage activities because of her tics. After many therapists and specialist we have finally found someone who believes he can help her and get her tics under control. She underwent blood work and testing and was officially diagnosed with PANDAS. The unfortunate news is this doctor does not take insurance. This treatment is going to cost our family about $20,000 for a year of treatment. We just cannot afford this on our own but truly believe this could be the thing that could help her. We want her to be happy and live a great life, this is the first time we have had hope in years! Any help that anyone is able to provide would be so unbelievably appreciated!!!
