Help with Travel Costs for Mayo Clinic Treatment
Donation protected
This year has been rough. After having COVID for Christmas, I started experiencing a series of pulmonary emboli, blood clots in my lungs. By May, I had 6 pulmonary emboli and 2 blood clots in my heart. At this point, I needed oxygen and haven't been able to get off it since. I had 3 ICU stays to treat the heart clot, treat sepsis after my port got infected and had to be removed, and sepsis from the PICC line they placed after they removed the port. I am having more heart rhythm issues, my lungs function is decreasing rapidly and the anemia I already struggled with seems to be worse. During my last doctor's appointment, I told my doctor that I feel like I am slowly dying and nothing different is being done to change that. When she agreed that it seemed like they were missing something, I told her that I thought I should have Mayo Clinic see me. She agreed, so I started the process and officially have an in-person appointment scheduled. I will need to be there 3 days for my initial visit and may have to return. I also don't have any guarantee that my insurance will cover everything, but I do have good insurance, so at worst, I would have to pay 20%. Right now, I am just asking for help with travel costs and lodging because I have no idea how much this will cost. Please help me get there so I can get better and get my life back!
