Hello, my name is Abby and I am fundraising on behalf of my Mom and Dad.

Over the last almost 3 weeks, my Dad has been battling with his Health in the Critical Care Trauma Unit in London Victoria Hospital. It all started just before Thanksgiving this year. Tim (Some of you may know him as Joe) woke up with a pulled muscle in his upper leg/groin area that was really bothering him, along with some other issues so he went to Emerge in Sarnia to get looked at. Sarnia Hospital ended up drawing his blood and giving him IV fluids. He went home but still wasn’t feeling good what so ever, so The next morning he woke up to blood blisters and dead skin on his thigh so this rose some concern. Back to Sarnia Hospital he goes, they rush him to London for his first surgery. Fast forward a bit, they had to rush him into multiple emergency surgeries to remove the muscle in his leg, get rid of infection (leading to Septic shock) & put my dad on a ventilator and sedate him from all of this that he was experiencing from something that started as simple as a pulled muscle- turned into gangrene, being on life support and sedation. Scary.

Over these last few weeks he has had his ups and downs, he’d take one step forward and then fall back a few steps. The infection was gone after a week or so and he was no longer septic, and was able to be off the ventilator/sedation for anywhere from 12-24 hours at a time. Yay. But then they discovered his intestine/colon has ruptured and leaked into his stomach. He’s once again septic from the infection and now has an ostomy bag and is back on the ventilator fighting again.

If you know my Dad you know he’s a tough but very quiet guy, if he were able to talk right now he’d be telling us we don’t have to worry about him, he’s fine!

Now for my My mom (Janice). My Mom and Dad work a job together and since this has all happened, My moms been having to work Both hers and My Dads job AND travel to London to see him as much as she can. This is a little difficult because my mom doesn’t drive so having to find ways there can be hard at times. She’s been working so hard and doing everything she can to make sure that once he’s better, she can take care of him. For them both being over 50 (and my mom having health issues of her own) this will be extremely tough so i’m making this fundraiser to hopefully ease some bills they may have coming up, and help so they won’t have to work as much once my Dad is able to come home. (it’s a lot on my Mom, my Dad won’t be able to work as he’ll be handicapped the rest of his life)

Tims future will look very different from what we might expect, this will be a totally new learning curve and outlook on life for him and I can only imagine trying to navigate how to walk again, breathing therapy from being on a ventilator so long. AND worry about expenses, staying afloat and bills ontop of that. So this is why I’m making this GoFundMe for them.
