Hey all, as you know, my name is Todd Carey and I've been a diabetic (Type I) since I was about 14. So if you're doing the math, that's over 30 years; we'll leave it there. Unfortunately, as a result of all the years of damage, I have gone into Kidney failure and I am now in need of a Kidney and Pancreas transplant to stay alive. The surgery and, more notably, the recovery from a dual organ transplant is complicated and will take time, love, patience, teamwork, and money. It took me a ong time to create this fundraiser because it is a difficult thing to do and takes inventory of pride vs vulnerability. As most of you know, I have a heart full with my wife and 8 amazing kiddos who will be helping me physically and emotionally as we all go through this. The hope is that I will recover over a 2 to 3 month period and then start to adjust to a new life and experience improvement in my health. I will no longer be diabetic (thanks to the new pancreas) and will hopefully see improvement with pain, energy, etc. I commit to keeping everyone updated on my progress and would be truly grateful for any donations that can help us out as I will have to miss at least 8 weeks of work and will have many new bills related to the surgery and all of the medications and appointments related.
