Hello everyone,
I am doing this fundraiser for my 6 month old kitten that my boyfriend and I rescued a few weeks ago! We fell in love with her and she immediately became part of our family and she’s a special girl! Millie’s growth plates in her back left leg didn’t fully fuse thus causing a deformity to the leg. As a result of this, Millie was left with a half formed leg which we like to call her peg leg. Millie doesn’t have any control over her peg leg, and she doesn’t use it. Despite having only 3 good legs, Millie still does everything a “normal” kitten would do. She loves playing, running around, climbing, chasing toys, playing with her brother, and most importantly cuddling! When we got Millie, we were told that we shouldn’t have any issues with her peg leg, but we found this to be untrue. Millie was playing like normal and she jumped off the couch and unfortunately landed wrong and fractured her leg. The fracture was ultimately caused because her bone is very weak and brittle due to her deformity. Millie’s patella was also separated in the injury and is now free floating in her leg causing her additional pain. Since she is still such an energetic kitten all Millie wants to do is play, and she doesn’t understand why she can’t. Millie is sadly in a lot of pain. It hurts her to walk and she cries out anytime something touches her leg. The best treatment plan for her would be amputating the rest of her leg. This wouldn’t cause any issues for her since she is already used to only having 3 legs, but it would benefit her in many ways. It would take her pain away immediately and she would be looking at a 2 week recovery period, instead of 6 weeks, which is a lot of time for a playful kitten. Amputation would also prevent Millie from further injuring her leg, which her vets could see happening in the future due to the state of her leg. As many of you know vet bills can be very expensive, especially a surgery such as this! We are struggling to find funds to go through with her surgery and we would truly appreciate anything you would be willing to donate, as it would help us get our loving kitten back to her old self! Thank you for taking the time to read, and thank you for your support, even if it is just a share or a like!!
