Hi, my name is Ashley and I'm a dog musher. My dogs are my entire life. In fact, they saved my life. I was a heroin addict for 15 years and couldn't stay clean until I got into dog mushing. My dogs give me a purpose and reason to live. If something happened to my dogs, I'd fall apart. Miss Amira is a 3 year old purebred Siberian Husky who was rehomed to me as a pet a few months back. She is super sweet and sassy. She loves pulling the sled, going for rides in the car, and any treat that is peanut butter flavored. Today I came into my dog yard to find Amira hiding behind my couch in my house (yes, I live in my dog yard). When I got her out, I realized she was covered in blood and her foot was hanging off by a piece of flesh. You can see the bone. I currently have 250 dollars to my name. Fixing her leg is going to be thousands of dollars if they are able to save it. I cannot afford it, which is very sad for a sled dog who lives to run! She is currently laying in bed with her leg wrapped, waiting to go to the vet tomorrow. It is so sad. I'm not totally sure how her foot got ripped off, but I suspect it was a fight between her and my other female that she sometimes has tiffs with. They have never had a real fight before though so I'm at a loss at what really happened. All I know is I need to get her the proper vet care and I cannot afford it. Amira will probably never pull a sled again after this, but she deserves a good life and proper vet care!
