This gofundme is for my sister Susie Schlundt. She is 66 years old. She lives alone and is on disability so lives on a fixed income.

On August 31, Susie was taken to the hospital after having a heart attack and had to have open heart surgery to remove a tumor on her aortic valve that they said could have dislodged and caused a stroke if it wasn't removed. They needed to repair the valve and do a bypass. The surgery was a success and she is back home.

Since being back home her son Max has been staying with her. Helping her with meds, dressing and everything the doctors told her she was not allowed to do on her own as she has limited mobility. He has been a Godsend. Max didn't hesitate to come help his Mom but has had to take time off of work so, when all is said and done, will have lost about a month's worth of income. His wife is currently attending school so they and their daughter only have Max's income to live on and pay bills with. Susie, being on a fixed income, has no money to pay him for his help or pay the increase in her own bills due to co-pays and increased utilities and groceries for the two of them.

The stress of her financial situation has been weighing heavily on her and has not had a positive influence on her recovery. She has had trouble sleeping and worries about it all the time, mostly the way it is impacting her son and his family. She has made use of everything that her insurance would allow her (which wasn't much) so she has done everything she could do.
