Help with Surgery Costs For My Special Needs Daughter
My name is Shalonda Long, and I am a single parent of 2 daughters. My youngest daughter, Averie, who is 14, was born with special needs. Averie has autism, a condition called hemihypertrophy, and other orthopedic issues with her feet. She also wears AFO orthotic leg braces for stability when she walks. Since she’s been born, Averie has had several major surgeries. Over the last ten years, I have been taking Averie to therapy appointments 2-3 times a week. Unfortunately, Averie’s therapy schedule has prevented me from working consistently, and I receive no financial support from her father. Recently, I found a special teen unit at Cincinnati Children's Hospital that can perform surgery to alleviate some of Averie’s medical issues. This surgery can help improve her chronic foot pain and increase her mobility. The program at CCH is the only one in our area. We live in Louisville, KY, about 100 miles away from the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. I am reaching out to request financial support for this surgery scheduled for April 18th, 2022. After surgery, I will be Averie’s primary in-home caregiver, preventing me from holding down a full-time job for at least 60 days. This surgery requires out-of-state travel and in-patient hospital stay for multiple days. Your contribution will cover the cost of the out-of-town travel expenses, expenses to cover the costs of her post-surgery care and any out-of-pocket medical costs. Whether you can give $25, $50, $100, or $200, any amount is greatly appreciated. On behalf of Averie, we thank you in advance for your financial support.
