Medical and Funeral fund for Sonja
Donation protected
My name is Debra and my daughter, Kimberly, and I are working to raise money for my son Brandon and his family after the loss of his amazing wife Sonja. She was one of the sweetest, most caring and thoughtful people who made many friends with her wonderful smile, natural warmth, kindness, and genuine compassion. Brandon and Sonja were married fifteen years and have a son, Morgan 14, and a daughter Sarah 11.
At Christmas time last year Sonja began having pain and it was thought that it was endometriosis; however, a biopsy in January 2022 determined that it was a rare form of stage IV colon cancer that had spread to her peritoneum, which is the lining of your abdomen that encases the stomach, liver, intestines, kidneys, bladder, and other organs. Unfortunately her cancer was not one that was visible like a mass or a tumor that could be surgically removed, so treatment options were limited to chemotherapy. Sonja was able to finish three rounds of chemo, but it severely reduced her kidney function and stents had to be placed to keep up with draining the fluid off her abdomen that caused uncomfortable pressure, and to keep up with filtering the chemo drugs and the things it kills. She was very weak. Then a blockage occurred in her intestine that was inoperable. The only choice was hospice, so in early May she was brought home and kept comfortable. Throughout this journey Sonja remained positive and Cared more about others than herself. Then on June 14th Sonja Jean Gabriel Sprunger passed into heaven, with her husband by her side and loved ones nearby.
Many have asked how they can help during this difficult time. While food and shelter are not a concern, there are not funds in a savings account to cover the large medical expenses and funeral, the total of which are not known at this time. Any extra funds will be donated to cancer research.
A memorial website where you can send photos, personal stories, etc. is available to you at https://www.kudoboard.com/boards/aUXDawZJ
A special note from Brandon
thank you so much for your generosity and prayers during this time. I can’t imagine going through this without God, family, and friends. As I try to figure out all this, I know I couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you and God bless! Brandon
