It is with the most heavy and broken heart that I share my precious boy, Smitty, crossed the rainbow bridge last night.

The past week has been an absolute roller coaster. Wednesday of last week Smitty developed an aggressively swollen lymph node, enlarged to the size of a golf ball, and consequently stopped eating, drinking and using his litter. After various treatment and tests, it was determined he was having inflammation due to an infection, was prescribed corticosteroids, and he seemed to be on the mend since. However last night, he deteriorated rapidly and terribly, going blind, paralyzed & experiencing seizures within a couple hours. It was determined he had an untreatable brain tumour, and was laid to rest in my arms at 12:15 am.

I have been distraught, torn apart, emotionally defeat losing the most important thing in my life. The secondary stressor waking up this morning is clueing into the debt I’ve accrued, thousands of dollars in vet tests, treatments, and cremation costs. Pair this with 3 days off work unpaid, I am seeking help from my friends and family.

I am ashamed to be asking, and don’t expect anything. However, if anyone is able to help in any way, it would be more greatly appreciated than I could ever say.

Smitty had a way of turning those who weren’t cat people, into cat people. He was the most cuddly, silly, loud and loving furry best friend, who’s saved me many times over the years, and who I will always hold close to my heart.
