My parents left the house at 4am when the level 3 immediate evac order was issued. My dad finished checking on the neighbors one last time while my mom packed. An hour after leaving, my dad’s phone alerted him the smoke detectors in the house were going off.
Before all this happened, the power was out and cell towers were down. No calls, texts were delayed, and no service to Google for updates. At 3am, my dad walked outside and saw the flames coming over the hillside above our neighbors house.
At 5am, my mom texted “house gone”.
Right now we’re working on short term accommodations for them to easily get to work and keep the kitty happy (Jiggs). With ours being just 1 out of thousands of home losses, available accommodations are limited. My goal is to help during the first few months while they figure out the next few years.
Thanks for all the messages and love from all of you. ❤️
