Help with Sheila's Legal Expenses

Donation protected
My mom, Sheila Woody, has been working hard her entire life to provide for the people she loves.  Recently, she was devastated by news that everything she has been working so hard for is in jepordy of being lost because she is the victim of a man who has scammed and stolen from many, many people.

About 6 years ago she began the process of purchasing land to build a dream home on in Somerset Kentucky, where she was born. She bought 3.14 acres  from a man who seemed to have a legitimate business, and paid him from paycheck to paycheck until she paid it off.  She decided she wanted to help her sister, Shelly,  and her son, Aaron, to get homes of their own also, so she purchased approximately 6 more acres from the same man for them. She put 3 acres of land in my Aunt's name and the other 6 in hers.

It is now 4 years after she has paid off the first parcel of land and about 2 years since she completed paying of the second parcel. She has legal deeds in her name and my Aunt's name for both parces of land. She has since taken out a loan to put a driveway and septic on the land and is currently paying this off month-to-month. She has been putting all of her hopes and dreams for herself and her moved ones into this dream of building homes together, and being safe and sucure for the rest of their lives.

About 2 weeks ago, my mother was served legal papers explaining that she is being sued in a civil suit with the bank because the man she purchased the land from had leains on the land.  He refinanced loans and acquired loans on her property after she had already paid him in full and got the deeds in her name. He profited from these bank transactions, and then ceased paying the bank!  My mother has since uncovered information about the person who scammed her, and discovered that he has done things like this to many people, including his own mother and siblings, and several other people in the community. However, for some reason Pulaski County Kentucky has not seen it necessary to procesute him for felony fraud and theft.

At this point, what she stands to loose is a total of about $25,000.00 worth of land and improvements she has made to the property.

The bottom line is, we have no legal representation, and absolutely no money to provide lagal representation for my mom. She has found a real estate lawyer who will take her case, but we need $1500 up front just to get started, and it could cost up to $10,000 in the end to represent her. The only lawyers involved currently are the bank's lawyers and the man who scammed my mom. I know there is no way we can navigate this very confusing and tragic loss without legal help and someone who is on my mom's side looking out for her interests.

Please donate what you can to help her get representation so my mom has a chance of not loosing her life's dream of having land in the place where she was born, and providing for her famiy.

Anything you give will be helpful, and we will be so deeply grateful.

Thank you,
Sincerely,
Amy St. Clair, Sheila Woody, and Aunt Shelly.
