Hi friends.
We’ll try to keep it brief. We’re writing this today to ask you to help Sharon Penz. Sharon is our beloved mother, sister, daughter, and friend. She is a uniquely talented artist, teacher, and creator. Over the last year, her health has declined rapidly, leading to a diagnosis of Stage 4 kidney disease coupled with an autoimmune disorder called Sjögren's. The effects of these diseases are brutal, causing dental decay, digestive issues, difficulty breathing, body pain, water absorption problems, vision complications, and extreme fatigue. We are lucky to live in a state with reasonable healthcare coverage, yet co-pays and procedures not covered by insurance add up. Additionally, logistical costs like food (kidney disease has specific dietary requirements), lost wages, and transport to her treatment in NYC place a significant financial burden on Sharon and her family. Managing her health has meant that she is no longer able to teach and choreograph–two things that have brought meaning and fulfillment to her life for many years. This loss has brought real financial and mental strains. Sharon has spent her entire adult life helping others, and this is a critical time where she needs the assistance of the community. We understand if you are unable to donate, but even just sharing this campaign is immensely helpful. You can also read more about her kidney disease or find out about becoming a transplant donor at www.nkr.org/PCA326. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
