I was really hoping to avoid having to do this again, and I feel deeply embarrassed, but I feel I have no alternative. Since my mother’s death in June, which was preceded by 2 years of being unable to do very much outside work because of her care requirements, I have been trying hard to find work for the past 6-8 months, but without success so far.
I have reached a point where, once I pay my mortgage, I will be totally destitute and unable to pay my bills for the month (I’m referring to the power bill, the utility bill, and the other financial obligations I have — not credit cards) or purchase groceries. I also had to have an unexpected and necessary $1200 car repair in late February, for which I still owe money. While I have had occasional gigs during this period, they have not been sufficient for me to meet my financial requirements. I have tried to secure loans online, but, as you know, that is extremely difficult if you have not had a regular paycheck in a while.
I currently have a number of job applications that are active at the moment, and I am in the process of being onboarded to become a substitute teacher in the Orange County Public School System, but any earnings I might make from any of these will come too late for me to pay my bills for the month of April (my drug test with Kelly Educational Services is not scheduled until April 8, the earliest appointment they have).
I am applying for food stamps and will be trying to sell possessions in order to try to meet my financial obligations. I am trying to get myself back on a financial footing and trying hard to find a job. I realize that times are tough for many people, and I will be immensely grateful for anything you can spare. Any amount will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
