Help with Seth's medical and therapy expenses

Team Seth Foundation

In 2011, Seth was riding his bicycle training for a triathlon when he was struck from behind by a van driven by an 81-year-old woman. You can visit the website (link above) and watch the video for more background about how he acquired his traumatic brain injury, which also resulted in apraxia and aphasia. He spent over 5 months in the hospital and had to relearn how to do EVERYTHING. When he came home from the hospital he had a VP shunt draining from his brain to his stomach, he was missing 1/3 of his brain, he was wheelchair-bound and wearing diapers.

The YouTube video above shows him 7 years later competing in the 2018 Special Olympic USA Games and representing the State of Louisiana. This was Seth’s first national competition after only two years of powerlifting! (Seth won four medals: gold in bench press; silver in deadlift; bronze in squat; and silver cumulative).

About a year after the USA Games, we discovered Seth was leaking brain fluid, which meant more surgeries. They took a skin graft from his arm (which just happened to be a tattoo he already had of the grim reaper) and attached to his head to cover the site where he was leaking brain fluid. (Yes, that means he now has a tattoo of the grim reaper on his head! Talk about a conversation starter). They also took his main artery from that same arm and attached to his carotid for blood supply to the graft site, as well as taking a skin graft from his thigh to replace on his arm. He has had to undergo 2 additional surgeries to the same graft site on his head since then, and continues to suffer from severe daily headaches from his original traumatic brain injury. He also recently had his first seizure,  a focal motor seizure affecting the right side of his body.

There is only so much that insurance covers. This GoFundMe was created by Seth's sister and all funds will be used to for Seth's ongoing treatment. He continues to fight every day toward a full recovery and he has come so far in 9 years. Any donation, big or small, is greatly appreciated.

This is not to be confused with the 501c3 Team Seth Foundation For Traumatic Brain Injury Awareness.  NONE of the funds donated to the 501c3 have gone to Seth or his mom. They are passionate about raising awareness for TBI and all funds donated to the foundation are used for that purpose. The foundation awards scholarships to families suffering with TBI to help with their loved one's medical and therapy expenses. If you would like to donate to the foundation, there are links on the website to do so.  However, all funds raised from this GoFundMe campaign will be used for Seth's medical and therapy expenses.
