Service Dog Surgery! Help Bee!

Donation protected

Hello community!

I know that I can’t put into words the impact that having Bee as my service dog has had in my life, but I’ll do my best! I live with several mental illnesses (PTSD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Depression, and ADHD). Before Bee came into my life, I was completely lost. My mental illnesses, with lack of proper treatment, had led me deep into addiction, isolation, and self-destruction. I reached a point where I truly no longer cared if I lived or died. That’s when Bee came into the picture.

Bee was a rescue who had absolutely no training when we first came into each other’s lives. Bee and I are the embodiment of the rescue dog cliche of “who saved who?”. Bee and I truly rehabilitated each other simultaneously. While I taught her how to be a happy, healthy dog, she taught me how to be a happy, healthy person. We gave each other purpose and against all odds, I was able to get my illnesses treated and get her certified as my service dog. Since then, we have scarcely left each other’s sides.

You can imagine, then, how I felt when I brought my Bee in for a routine veterinary visit and they found a suspicious mass. I was told that she had a mass on her leg that they said had a 50/50 chance of being cancerous. If having Bee wasn’t medically necessary for me, I honestly wouldn’t be able to justify having a dog financially. I am unable to work more than part time due to my diagnoses so am fairly low income. I did, of course, get her all the treatment that was required and she has been on the road for recovery for a couple of weeks now.

I am immensely grateful to report that Bee is cancer free.

I am, unfortunately, in quite a rough position financially after this ordeal. I am doing everything that I can to manage the situation but have been encouraged by my community to reach out for support. This has been a challenge to continue to maintain my mental health through this time and having support with some of the financial burden would make a world of difference.

Anything at all would mean the world to Bee and I. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
