Ten years ago our dear friend Sean was diagnosed with Fanconi Anemia, a rare genetic disorder that causes bone marrow failure and cancer. Since 2011 Sean has received a life-saving bone marrow transplant and survived All The Cancers - tongue, bladder, throat, cheek, and gum, plus more than 150 skin cancers.

To know Sean is to love him. It is also to be changed by him. He has always been warm, funny, generous, and wise. But living with a life-threatening illness for more than a decade has transformed Sean's entire life into a "thin place" - those rare spaces where the distance between heaven and earth collapses and the Sacred becomes plain. Sean radiates the kind of grace and love that only come with close connection to the Divine. Those gifts are poured out on every person he encounters, whether in his own living room or in a hospital radiation treatment room.

Sean is married to his high school sweetheart - the fierce, kind, and courageous Allison. They are parents to the larger-than-life Maya. Their family has recently discovered that Medicare is denying coverage for necessary daily IV infusions that Sean receives at home. They've also denied coverage for nutritional supplement drinks, which are a critical part of Sean’s diet. The emotional impact of this news was devastating, of course.
