Help with Sean's Care

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Regina Evans and I am Sean's wife since 2018. As you probably know by now, Sean had a massive ("widowmaker") heart attack in his sleep during the early morning hours of Saturday 10/02/21. He had a 100% blockage in the artery that caused the attack, which means his heart was not receiving the oxygen it needed for an extended period of time even before the heart attack. Shortly after he was transported to hospital, a cardiologist cleared the blockage and placed a stent to keep the artery open and a balloon pump to deliver constant oxygen to help heal his heart. He was completely sedated and placed on a ventilator since he was having trouble breathing on his own (that is very common with this kind of heart attack). He has been on a number of medication drips but they have been able to avoid some of what the nurse refers to as the "nastiest" drugs that tend to have longer-term side effects.

Sean has since made tremendous progress by the grace of God! He remains sedated but is waking up, communicating with the nurse, and following commands. This morning (10/04/21) they are inserting a Swan catheter, which will deliver precise measurements of the blood flow and pressures in and around his heart. This will give them clear guidance on how to proceed with his treatment. The hope is that they will be able to take him off the ventilator and allow him to breathe on his own sometime today. He has passed all the tests to be able to do so, including an extended breathing trial, but they want to avoid extubating him and having to intubate again.

As everyone who knows him is aware, Sean has a tremendous zest for life and is a fighter. We are also people of strong faith and know that God is carrying him right now. It is incredibly difficult that I cannot be at his side due to hospital-wide COVID protocols, but the love that has been constantly flowing from our huge support system has done so much to help me. I am also an organizer by nature and tend to cope with my emotions by organizing, fixing, learning, etc. I am staying busy sharing updates and making plans to get through the near future.

We are well-insured, thank God, but know that we are facing deductible, coinsurance, and out-of-network costs. Sean will also be off work for months and some items will need to be items purchased to support his recovery at home. This fundraiser is to cover as much of those things as we can.

We appreciate all donations and most importantly, prayers. We have a long road ahead and we will be leaning on the Lord to carry us through.
