Help with Scott's Dental Catastrophe!

Hi, I'm Blair and my longtime boyfriend and best friend Scott Coffey is facing a real dental emergency slash catastophe through no fault of his own. I'm here to ask for your help.

Scott's teeth have always been what dentists sometimes call "Irish" or "soft." He's always kept on top of dental check ups and maintanance, but in the last year, they've just started cracking and breaking, and also wearing down to the point where he almost doesn't have any bottom teeth and the top ones are in a horrendous state. What seemed like an annoying aesthetic issue that could be delayed until we next get paid has turned into a full on health issue. He’s been struggling to eat without a lot of pain and wakes up most mornings with blood in his mouth.

As a filmmaker/actor and a writer, you probably know how our finances work. We make money that's supposed to last a long time between projects. We'd hoped our next film would be in production by now but it's taking longer than expected (as all independent films do). Well now, when money is ebbing not flowing, is when this medical emergency hit unfortunately.

That's why I'm humbly asking for your help with Scott's dental catastrophe. It's really impacted his self esteem and recently, it's become a genuine medical emergency, something that has to be done. His dentist here in Germany said his teeth are basically poisoning him, and as Sarah Silverman always says, "Disease enters through the mouth."

Scott found a kind and knowledgable doctor here in Berlin that's offered to completely replace his teeth with implants for less than $18,000, which is an amazing value. I figure in the U.S., it would cost as least twice as much. To save money, the dentist will have the teeth made in China.

Scott doesn't want me to do this fundraiser because he's mortified about asking for help, like many people are, which I totally understand. But hey: sometimes you have to just ask for help when it's badly needed, and I know a lot of you love Scott and would be willing to help out in his time of need.

He can do the surgery soon. It will truly change his life and profoundly help his oral and general health, plus his confidence, which has taken a real hit.
