On January 1st 2022, Santhosh's wife, Ranjitha, found him collapsed in the bedroom and discovered he needed urgent medical attention.
After he was rushed to the hospital in Plano, TX, the medical staff discovered he had suffered brain hemorrhage that led to swelling in his brain (cerebral edema). He very nearly died that night. It was sometime after he miraculously survived after battling for 6 days. His doctors diagnosed him with high blood pressure.
Although he survived, the brain damage that Santhosh sustained is significant. He is in a minimally conscious state and is unable to walk, talk, care for or feed himself. The once vibrant, funny, talented, passionate, caring husband, father of two daughters (older one is 3 years and younger one is 3 months old) and friend to many is now silenced.
At the age of 42, Santhosh requires round-the-clock care at the rehabilitation center and is not able to return to work or home anytime soon he once shared with his family.
Thankfully, insurance aid covers part of his care and some therapies. But his wife Ranjitha will soon start facing a shortfall of money. These costs include not only his living accommodations and care, but also multiple therapies that give him the best chance possible to regain some of what he has lost - including physical therapy, speech therapy and music therapy. We see these various therapies as crucial to giving Santhosh the best chance to make a meaningful recovery.
We are grateful to anyone and everyone who wants to partner along with his family to ensure that Santhosh has every possible resource available to continue down the long, hard path to recovery. In the interest of full disclosure - Ranjitha Varala, is organizing this fundraiser. All donations go directly to Ranjitha to cover the costs of Santhosh’s nursing care and his speech and music therapies.
