Roo is my 9 year old rescue who was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer on December 23rd 2021. Here is her story.

Roo came to me on May 5, 2012. She was the size of my palm. She was being given away by a student on campus who could not care for her. So I took her. I had just graduated from college so the timing couldn’t have been better. I was moving into my first apartment alone, no roommates and I was nervous. But, I had Roo.

She is so smart and loving and learned every command and trick I could think of teaching her. I was in the midst of training her to be an emotional service dog, so I could take her to hospitals when she was attacked by a dog while on a walk. Unfortunately, this led to anxiety and fear of other dogs that I suspended her ESA training.

None the less, she is my angel and best friend and has been there for me during some really rough times in my life, just as I’ve been there for her.

In 2017, Roo was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. a disease that caused her to gain weight at a rapid pace and lose a lot of her fur. After the diagnosis we we able to get her medicated and back to her old self.

In 2019 we welcomed another member of the family, Indiana. People cautioned me because of Roos anxiety that another dog wouldn’t work. But they were wrong. Roo and Indiana became the best of pals.

Roo loves barking and regulating the rules around the house. She’s a sweetheart and I can’t imagine my life without her. She was diagnosed with cancer on Christmas and she’s been through so much and gotten through it, that I feel like I have to give her a chance to fight this too. Chemo treatments are expensive and I am hoping that with your generosity, we can give Roo a few more years.
