My wife Brooke and I had to take our dog Rocko to the vet today after he spent the night throwing up. They had to put a tube into his stomach to drain fluids and perform emergency surgery to remove an obstruction from his intestines. The vet said that everything would ultimately cost between $6000 and $7000 on top of urgent care bills from last night for x-rays and IV treatments.
I hate having to put up a GoFundMe, but we've been hit with hard times due to the pandemic. Brooke was furloughed from work at the hospital for an extended period and was recently brought back for two weeks only to have her hours cut back to zero. We have no idea when they will let her come back to work again. On top of that the state's unemployment system has been backed up and we haven't received a payment in months now. Unfortunately we have also had a fair share of medical bills for her as well with multiple ER visits in the past few months.
Rocko was a rescue I got from the pound in Charlotte, NC in 2015. He and I have been together since before Brooke and I were together. Even though he was my dog first, Brooke absolutely adores him. He's also adored by our newest addition, Hank, whom we rescued almost exactly one year ago.
