Help with Ozzy's Life Saving Surgery Bills
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Lori and I have started this fundraiser to help my dear friend Margaux pay for the life-saving surgery for her beloved kitty Ozzy.
Two weeks ago, Ozzy staring having extreme tummy troubles and was not getting any better. Their veterinarian prescribed prednisolone and metronidazole to help with diarrhea. After two days with no improvement, Margaux looked into the matter only to find that the compounding pharmacy gave them the incorrect medication! Luckily it was only kitten doxycycline so no further harm was done. But he was back at square one.
Ozzy was then on the correct medication plus probiotics but after an additional two weeks, still no improvements. Then he began vomiting bile. So back to the vet's office. After sub-q fluids and anti-nausea medications, they went home. The following morning, more vomiting so back to the vet. By this time, poor Ozzy was so weak they admitted him, started him on IV fluids and more nausea meds. The doctor wanted to do an Ultrasound, but Ozzy was so upset that they couldn't get near him. Mommy had to hold him tight while they drew blood, completed the ultrasound and put in the catheter.
Finally an answer...a large intestinal blockage! They feel that Ozzy was so dehydrated from weeks of diarrhea and also vomiting, his intestines became so sticky that whatever is in there, cannot pass. Possibly a large hairball, they could see it on the ultrasound. Because of all the fluid build-up on the other side of the obstruction, his kidneys have been so strained that his levels are six times higher than normal. He has been so unstable they cannot risk anesthesia for surgery to remove the blockage. It could kill him. So at the moment, it's a game of wait and see if the blockage breaks up with fluids and hopefully it doesn't cause permanent kidney failure.
Meanwhile, every day the medical bills add up.
For those of you/us that have never had children, our precious pets are our children. Margaux loves her little boy so much, that she is terrified she will lose him, which would destroy her. After losing her loving mother to cancer last year, this could prove too much to handle. Ozzy is the sweetest boy and needs to come home whole and healthy. Your donations would really help ease the burden of this very sudden financial hardship.
I've attached some photos of sweet Ozzy along with the medical bills so far. A $5,000 deposit was required by the veterinarian today.
We will be updating on here when we have news. Thank you all who have read this story of our beloved Ozzy boy. Please keep him in your thoughts ❤️
