Please Help our family with Ozzy McClure’s Emergency VET ER treatment expenses and continued medical care.

Meet “Ozzy” McClure, the 9 month old Aussie Doodle. Our fun lovin’ ‘lil troublemakin’ puppy.

While adventuring in our back yard, Ozzy found a seed pod growing out of a cardboard palm and decided to chew it up. Little did we know, is that the seed pod ( and entire plant ) is extremely toxic. It’s part of the Cycad family ( Sago Palm, cardboard palm etc ) all of which are toxic and deadly to dogs and cats and even children. After identifying the seeds in his vomit ( vomiting had taken over him uncontrollably ), we quickly googled them ( freaked out ) and subsequently raced him to the VET ER that very moment.

Treatment was intense and it really hurt us mentally, physically, and financially. ( if you’ve been through this, you know that the VET ER expenses are through the roof ). Our quick reaction time and Instant decision to proceed with treatment though seemed to save his life. Ozzy is not entirely out of the woods but after sitting with him for 60 of the 72 hours of VET ER treatment, I think it made a huge difference, us being there, him knowing that we love and care for him. He’s now back home, still recovering, and we will remain cautiously optimistic as he has now been evaluated by a “internalist” specialist veterinarian. His past two blood tests are showing signs of liver damage, which could potentially lead to failure - we just don’t know yet and are taking it one day at a time. We are focused on remaining hopeful of a full recovery, and giving him as much love as possible.

We are having a tough time. We never thought we would ever need to do a fundraiser like this.

Friends and family....The past couple of years have been very challenging for us, in the arts and entertainment industry. We write this letter, extremely humbled and hopeful that some folks may be able to help our family to defer our Furry Baby Boi’s medical expenses. If it’s not possible for you, please just please send positive recovery energy to our baby boi. PS. Now we are on our own personal crusade to spread awareness about this toxic Cycad plant. Home and pet owners need to be aware, so that a needless tragedy doesn’t happen to others. In Florida, these plants are VERY common. Even though they are not technically a palm ( sago palm / cardboard palm ) the Cycad family are very everwhere in the south / warmer climate and also as interior home ornamentals in other places. Not only can they harm/kill pets, they can also do the same to young curious children / toddlers. THESE PLANTS ARE NOT LABELED WITH ANY WARNING.
