UPDATED ADDED BELOW.
On Saturday night the 17th of August Owen Mason, much loved Fiancè to Anna, Father to Kurtis and a baby girl due December, Son/in law, brother, nephew, uncle and bloody good mate, Suffered a Subarachnoid Hemorrhage (Brain aneurysm).
Thankfully Anna was close by at the time and was able to get Owen medical attention quickly with the help of their neighbours and family.
Owen was transported to Toowoomba hospital for scans and once realising the seriousness of what was happening to Owen they very promptly flew him straight to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane where the bleeding has been contained in a procedure on Sunday afternoon with a favourable outcome for Owen.
Owen currently remains intubated and ventilated, with multiple fluids, medications, and drains in the PA ICU.
Anna and her parents Doug and Kerry, along with Owen's parents John and Narelle, have stood strong and loving beside his bed when ever able, while he now fights the possible roughest battle for his life.
We are hopeful for a positive recovery and back into the loving arms of his family and friends. We can only give his body time and rest before we will know the outcome of this life-threatening condition.
We all know his sense of humour and strength will be pushed to it's limits, but with Anna, Kurtis and all of us by his side, we pray for the best outcome, which only time will tell. The support, prayers and wishes have already been so lovingly appreciated.
Owen and Anna are not ones to ask for help which is why I (Anna’s older sister) have set this up for them. With Owen now unable to work and Anna giving up work to be away from home to be by his side, along with the arrival of their baby girl fast approaching they are going to need all of the help they can get with the costs of being away from home and normal expenses, which unfortunately can’t be put on hold while he starts his very long road to recovery.
Any and every little bit counts and we, their extended family are so grateful for anything you can do to help them.
Much Love,
Mason and Reid Families

Update for Owen
Owen has spent 38 days today fighting to get his life back.
He left the ICU ward on Friday 13/09/24, at 27 days. He went to the the neurology high dependency unit Friday afternoon to continue to be monitored closely. Yesterday afternoon 23/09/24, Owen was moved to the neurology ward.
Owen's EVD drain for his spinal fluid was clamped on Friday 20/09/24. Owen went for a CT scan on Saturday afternoon to check for any fluid build up in his brain and the scan didn't show any abnormalities. So he had his EVD drain removed. He will go for another CT scan to check this again today. We are still unsure of any further procedures needing to go ahead, this depends solely on scans and Owen's Neurological state.
The next hurdle for Owen's recovery is to work on having his tracheostomy removed. This involves cuff deflation for several hours a day until he can tolerate 24 hours breathing on his own and he passes a swallow test.
It will be a long rehabilitation process to get him back on his feet He is slowly moving forward a few days at a time. But he definitely has a long way to go. With 5 weeks gone. We are all keeping positive and praying each day His little boy Kurtis got to spend a short time with him Thursday for the first time in 33 days. Kurty gave him lots of love beside him on the bed.
Owen has fight, hope, love and future in his eyes. And we are so thankful for each day forward. Love to everyone that is thinking of him and praying for him It means so much to him & his little family. Let's do everything we can to get them all home together. ❤️
