Hi everyone! I am fundraising for a very dear friend of mine, Denise Potmesil, who was bit by several mosquitos after work on June 28, 2020, outside her house. On June 29, 2020, she had her first grand mall seizure and was transported by ambulance to the hospital. For the next two weeks, Denise was unable to walk, and didn't recognize her family. Testing confirmed she had West Nile Virus and encephalitis due to a mosquito bite, as well as damage to the frontal lobe of her brain. Denise was in the hospital for a month and in a rehab facility for another month. She also suffers from short-term and long-term memory loss. Denise has not been able to return to her job since the onset of this horrible disease, although her employer is hopeful she will. Denise has been receiving her medical treatment at UC Davis, as well as numerous doctors in her hometown. She has a minimum of 4 doctor appointments every month, and will be on anti-seizure and other medications for the remainder of her life. As recently as last October, after she was able to walk again, she suffered another grand mall seizure and tragically fell, breaking both arms, her back and pelvis. This was a major setback that she still continues to recover from. Denise needs your help in paying for her unpaid medical expenses and household expenses while she waits for the long process of getting approved for social security disability. She has been struggling financially and needs our help. Any amount you can donate is very much appreciated.
