During the unrest, turmoil, and unsafe times of the Trial in Minneapolis, MN, our LOVED ONE Nathan, was struck with a bullet that hit him in the neck. It went through his throat and severed his cervical spinal cord, C3 & C4 area, also damaging the brain stem. Nathan went from being a provider, happy husband, and father to now being on life support and needing 24hr medical treatment for all of his autonomic functions and care. He is alive and not in a vegetative state. At this time we are doing all we can in this fight for his life. Although he can comprehend and respond to us, his brain can't communicate to the rest of his body to function. The area of his injury not only controls his movement of the lower body but also the processes telling his lungs to breathe on their own and heart to pump/regulate other functions. Adding to his physical injury, Nathan will be quadriplegic for the duration of his life. Insurance alone will not be sufficient to cover his care. It is estimated that the costs of treatments for patients with this type of spinal cord injury within the first year will be between $320,000 to $985,000 and up to as much as $5 million during a patient's lifetime. Our family is asking for your help at this time, he is the oldest male of the family and father of seven. He means a great deal to us all and everyone who knows him. We are all crushed by this life altering horrific tragedy.
