Ashes to Diamonds - a final wish for Myndie Krause
Donation protected
Melinda (Myndie) Powell Krause passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 12th. To help cover the costs of the cremation and to fulfil Myndie's wish to convert some of her ashes to a diamond for her husband, Jason, we have started this gofundme page. Due to the suddenness of her passing and the various disorders and challenges that each of them had to bear during life, we are looking to raise funds to try and help alleviate some of the financial strain on her widower. Any funds raised beyond the goal will be used to pay down Myndie's remaining debts, mostly private student loan debts. We hope that through the generosity of others, Jason will be able to pick up the pieces of his life and move forward with positivity.
The below was written by Myndie's older sister, Melanie Powell.
How do you sum up the life of someone in a few paragraphs? I guess one just tries their best. Melinda Pauline Krause, Myndie, loved life. She loved HER life. She chose to find the light and BE a light to others despite being in an enormous amount of pain from her various physical and mental maladies. She is a light. Her favorite person was her husband. Our family was so blessed by their union and their example of unconditional love. Myndie shared in a post, “His love and devotion to me is what fairytales are made of. It provides the environment to choose joy and happiness even when our heads are barely above water and we’re holding on for dear life.” I told her often that they were winners. Winners for finding each other and for creating such a perfect life together. Myndie loved the gospel of Jesus Christ. Her faith gave her hope to move through the pain. Her faith buoyed others’ faith. I guess I always had hope that she would get better and live the life she so desperately wanted.
We all started seeing that hope come to light when she and her husband after prayer and fasting decided it was time for him to open his own private therapy practice. Things were coming together. She is SO immensely proud of him. Starting your own business is terrifying and good things were happening.
I often asked her “How do you do it?”. I needed to know how she continued to smile, laugh and wake up every day despite knowing she could barely move, that every breath caused her pain, that wants to be a mother, singer, be able to do basic daily tasks, and so many other things were limited by the body she was trapped in. In the end she said she just made the choice for happiness.
Myndie shared with Jason once that in the event of her passing she would like her remains to be made into a diamond. Unconventional? Yes and yet beautiful. Her life was precious. Her life was a light. We want to extend this light on earth for as long as possible. Thank you for reading this and loving our family. The following link is how we would like everyone remember Myndie, what she loved doing best.

Rusalka's song to the moon
Parts of the English translation:
Your light shines far in the heavens
Over the world, wandering
Gazing in human dwellings
Silvery moon in the velvet sky
Oh, once in awhile, stay with me
Tell me where is my love... where?
Tell him, oh tell him, silver moon
That in my arms, I enfold him
Tell him he dreams to tangle me Even if only for a moment.
Tell him in dreams to think of me Even if only for a moment.
