Hit & Run - Help My Leg So I Can Find a New Home!
Donation protected

Even though he was bleeding, had an obvious leg or hip fracture and for sure was in pain, he never growled or whined, just wagged his tail...thump, thump, thump...so grateful for any help and kindness!
He is probably a coonhound, about 2 years old, intact, no microchip. We have been unable to locate his owner, despite numerous door to door attempts, and many shares on social media. His injuries include a femur fracture that is going to require surgery. The options are to either insert pins and plates, which is a great option but very expensive, or amputate the leg.
Right now he is being cared for at Avondale Animal Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, and they have been terrific with their care and generosity! This young fella is incredibly sweet and has a wonderful disposition, even through pain and adversity!
He needs and deserves a new home, but expenses are a concern and a possible drawback for adoption. It is necessary to perform the surgery within the next few days, and the estimated cost of the surgery is anywhere from $2500 to $6000, depending on which option is chosen.
Of course we prefer to save his leg, so our goal is to get this little guy back on all four legs, running, chasing squirrels, treeing raccoons—and just being his happy, hound self in a forever home!
