Dear friends, family, and kind supporters, I am writing with great humility and with my heart in my hands to share a very difficult situation our family has experienced over the past year. As many of you know, last year my husband was detained by ICE when he attended his annual immigration check-in appointment. From that moment, our family entered a very complex legal process as we tried to defend his case. We sought legal assistance for his asylum case and also attempted, through legal efforts before a federal judge, to allow him to fight his case while in freedom. Unfortunately, despite all the efforts made, the process ended with his deportation to Venezuela. During that time, our family assumed significant legal expenses with the hope of helping him defend his case. However, due to the unexpected outcome of the process, there are still legal commitments that remain unpaid. At this moment I do not have stable employment. I have three children who have supported me as much as they can, but they also have their own families and responsibilities, and as a mother I would not like to place a heavier burden on them than what they have already taken on. For this reason, with great humility, we are creating this campaign in hopes of raising support to help cover these remaining legal obligations. Achieving this would also bring me a great deal of emotional peace, as it is very difficult for me to reach this amount on my own in a short period of time. Any contribution, no matter how small, will be deeply appreciated and will bring great relief to our family. If you are not able to donate, sharing this campaign with others would also mean a great deal to us. Les escribo con el corazón en mis manos para compartir una situación muy difícil que hemos vivido durante el último año. Como muchos saben, el año pasado mi esposo fue detenido por ICE durante su cita anual de inmigración, y desde ese momento nuestra familia enfrentó un proceso legal muy complejo intentando defender su caso de asilo.

Contratamos abogados y también recurrimos a instancias legales ante un juez federal para permitir que pudiera pelear su caso en libertad. A pesar de todos nuestros esfuerzos, el proceso terminó con su deportación a Venezuela, truncando nuestra esperanza de mantenerlo a nuestro lado.

Durante este tiempo asumimos gastos legales considerables con la intención de proteger su caso. Sin embargo, aún quedan obligaciones legales pendientes que no hemos podido cubrir.

Actualmente no tengo empleo estable, y aunque mis tres hijos me han apoyado con lo que han podido, ellos también tienen sus propias familias y responsabilidades. Como madre, no quiero cargarles con una responsabilidad mayor de la que ya llevan.

Por eso, con mucha humildad, hemos creado esta campaña para solicitar su apoyo en cubrir estos gastos legales pendientes. Lograrlo no solo nos ayudaría económicamente, sino que también me daría una gran paz emocional en este momento tan difícil.
