Urgent Help Needed for New Home and Moving Costs

I want to update my story so those are you I made read it previously if you could read it again to get a better understanding of the situation thank you. Hi my name is Debbie and I have lived in my home in Morgan Hill for 16 years, always paid my rent on time, and never caused any problems. In September of 2025 I discovered black mold under the kitchen sink and reported it to my landlord. Two weeks after I told her about the mold, she sent me a 60-day notice to vacate. It’s not an eviction, just a notice to move out for no reason. I looked up the California tenant rights and discovered that there was a new law in 2019 AB 1482 which says that a landlord has to give a tenant a reason to vacate so I called her but she wouldn't answer her phone I left her a voicemail and told her I wasn't going to be leaving in November because her noticed was invalid because she has to give me a reason I continue to pay my rent and then in January she gave me a call out of the blue and said hey I'm having someone come over to rip out the mold underneath the kitchen sink so I figured all right we're back on track she's not going to have me move I've been paying my rent. the guy showed up he ripped out the whole kitchen floor he ripped out all the kitchen cabinets I don't have anywhere to put my appliances he ripped out the kitchen sink and then put in a laundry room outdoor sink in my kitchen the floors are not finished there's holes in the walls where the rats are getting in when I told her about the rats she told me that the rats are everywhere even in New York City I don't know what she's talking about meanwhile the guy was there for 4 days and then he left this was back in January so then he never came back to finish the job and I kept calling her and asking hey when is he coming back she told me the laundry room sink was temporary she told me the guy was very busy but he knows my house is priority and he will be back he never came back and then on February 15th she gave me another 60 day notice to vacate but this time it was from a lawyer saying the house is exempt and the lawyers right the house is exempt because it's a single family home so AB 1482 doesn't apply to single family homes however landlords were supposed to tell their tenants this back in August of 2020 when the law came out in 2019 all landlords had to tell their existing tenants and add an addendum to their existing rental agreements that their houses are exempt from Ab 1482 single-family homes she never did that so now I am still in the right by not leaving but I want to leave I don't want to live amongst the rats I don't want to keep arguing with this woman it's crazy and it's causing me so much stress so this is the full story that I want everyone to understand we really really need help I bring home $2,700 after taxes every month the rent is only $1250.00 there I don't have any extra money I struggle to pay the bills and buy food this is why I'm asking everyone to please please if you can help us I would appreciate it so so much I've never been in this situation in my life I'm 61 years old I don't want to be homeless if you can please please help us I don't want to lose all my belongings either I want to get storage I have all kinds of stuff that I want to save so if you could please please help me thank you so much. I am facing the challenge of finding a new place to live.

My significant other of 10 years has a disease and is currently unemployed and in the process of filing for disability. I work full-time, but with the sudden need to move, the expenses are overwhelming. I need help covering the cost of storage for the first month, a moving van, and moving expenses, as well as the first month’s rent for a new place. This situation has put a lot of stress on us, and I never imagined I would be in this position.

I don’t have family I can turn to for help, so I am reaching out to the community for support. Any amount you can give will help us get through this difficult time. Thank you so much for reading my story and considering a donation. We have to be out by the end of May, and your support means the world to us.

I've applied for affordable housing and I'm waiting to hear back. I've been in contact with a gentleman by the name of Brian from the city of Morgan Hill who helps people who are houseless; however, he can only help me if I am houseless. If we do end up becoming houseless, he told me of a spot where we can park behind a church, a safe parking spot, which I'm trying to avoid. It sounds scary, and they don't allow parking during the day; you have to leave the property then come back later on in the evening. My partner's health condition requires him to have a place where he can rest during the day while I'm at work, and for him, sleeping in a vehicle isn't an option. It's also an option I would hate to have to do.

Thank you for reading my story. It means the world to me. Please share with others.
