Help with Mortimer's FIP Treatments

Hi there, my name is Milo and my partner's name is Sheen. The two of us are raising a kitten, who just turned 8 months old, named Mortimer.

Mortimer is a perfect, gentle, patient, vocal, brave, and adorable little guy, but his life has been turned upside down over the past four months. He was first diagnosed with uveitis, an infection of the eyes. We then noticed that his balance was off, and he soon began losing weight. It was then that we ordered a round of X-rays and ultrasounds, where the vet found that his kidneys were swollen. The diagnosis, as of 11/19/22, is wet FIP.

We have taken Mortimer to see three different veterinary specialists to treat different conditions, and the vet bills are beginning to take a toll. Additionally, the FIP treatment is set to cost anywhere around $2,500 USD. We will also need to continue taking him to the vet regularly for additional X-rays and tests in order to determine if the FIP treatment is working as it was intended.

As you can imagine, the cost of this is more than two people can reasonably afford. However, we are committed to doing everything in our power to help our sweet boy Mortimer in his battle against FIP.

In May of 2022, I lost my best friend: another black cat named Bubastis. I was with her from the moment she was born until her unfortunate passing. Losing her was one of the most difficult and challenging moments of my entire life, as I'd had her for approximately 13 years. We adopted Mortimer in July of 2022, still recovering from the grief of losing Bubastis, because Mortimer's initial name, "Bear," was one of the primary nicknames that we had for Bubastis. It was meant to be, and we've loved him ever since. However, it had only been a few months into having Mortimer that we realized he was sick. Having just lost my darling Bubastis, I knew I couldn't afford (either mentally or emotionally) to lose another baby. So I swore to do everything I could to save Mortimer, and that brings us to this fundraiser.

If you can find it in your heart to share this page or to donate to our cause, we would be eternally grateful for your help in saving this young boy's life. Whether we meet our goal or not, we intend to treat him and give him all of our love every single day, no matter the circumstances. He's part of our family, and we're not ready to let him go.
