Help with Mimi's Rose's Bone Marrow Transplant

****Update on Mimi April 24-

She’s been readmitted again for an infection in her gtube and an abscess in her incision site. She’s on IV antibiotics for MRSA and is responding very well. They are going to drain the abscess today and then we are praying she will turn the corner. She’s already down 7 pounds (which is 25% of her body weight) so she has to start gtube feeds again on top of everything. She really needs to gain weight so she can be strong for the chemo she will need in 9 weeks. The doctors are working diligently to build her system back up again as quickly as possible!

Mimi went in this past Monday for the first of several surgeries needed prior to the BMT. The surgeon placed a port for blood transfusions and a gtube for meds and nutrition. Unfortunately Mimi had not just one but 3 rare complications and merely died yesterday. Shes on the mend today, but has a serious infection and needs our prayers urgently. This is just the first step of MANY complicated and dangerous steps towards her cure. Thank you for all your donations and prayers. We could not do it without all of you lifting us up!

Little Mimi was born with Sickle Cell Disease, which causes little clots made of misshapen red blood cells, through the body. These cause extreme pain as well as organ damage as they clot and block vessels. These clots can cause strokes in your brain, heart attacks and other complications.

Life expectancy for Mimi is greatly shortened. She's already receiving monthly blood transfusions for life.

They recently found out that Mimi has a sibling match for a Bone Marrow transplant.

A Bone Marrow transplant is LIFESAVING and will leave her completely CURED! This is her only recourse to live a full life compared to her current expectancy of only 20-some years.

Unfortunately not everything is covered for the BMT so we are fundraising to supplement the rest.
