Help With Michelle Harkleroad's Medical Expenses

Donation protected
On February 16, 2022, Michelle (Hinton) Harkleroad was taken to the ER at Conemaugh with suspected pancreatitis. She was promptly transferred to the ICU where she remained for 4 very difficult and tenuous weeks before transitioning to a medical floor. Afterward, she was moved to Select Specialty Care for additional medical attention and physical therapy. Unfortunately, she developed some complications that required her to be transferred to Montefiore hospital in Pittsburgh on March 31, 2022 where she stayed for another 4 weeks. On May 5, 2022, she had some serious setbacks, this time with heart failure, requiring her to be moved to the ICU at UPMC Presbyterian. Fortunately, she is making some progress but is still requiring the excellent care she is receiving in the ICU in Pittsburgh. Her husband, Paul, and her two adult children, Jonathan and Clarissa, have rarely left her side for the past 3+ months. They have taken extended leaves from work to tend to Michelle, lift her spirits, and obtain daily updates from the doctors and medical professionals overseeing her.

As you can imagine, the costs are starting to mount, although there’s no question Paul, Jonathan, and Clarissa are where they need to be—with Michelle—during this incredibly difficult time. They are rotating between Pittsburgh, Johnstown, and Washington, D.C. (where Clarissa is living) to take care of their households and Michelle and Paul’s 9-year-old daughter, Paige. They’ve incurred costs associated with travel including gas and tolls, hotels/housing, and food. Michelle and Paul will have costs associated with medical bills and, hopefully soon, home health/physical therapy.

We are hopeful that Michelle will continue to make strides towards recovery and going home. Her mental fortitude has been nothing short of amazing, and she’s proven time and time again how strong she is and how much she desires to get better. She is working hard every day, and the current focus is on allowing her belly to heal while she works on nutrition and regaining some strength.

We covet your prayers for Michelle, Paul, Jonathan, Clarissa, and Paige, as well as her medical team taking care of her. Any funds that are contributed will go directly towards travel expenses for Paul and the kids and towards Michelle’s medical bills. No donation is too small. The family greatly appreciates your thoughts, prayers, and well wishes, as well as your monetary support, during this time.
