Help With Michael's Kidney Donor's Expenses!

UPDATE: THE KIDNEY IS IN! Successful surgery and Michael is home and doing well! His lovely donor powered on gracefully and bravely during this tough surgery. She remains the most remarkable person I've ever known. Thank you all again for the many donations! It has made the whole transplant experience a little easier for her knowing  how many people are continuing to help with her financial security during these next few weeks of recovery.

As many friends and family already know, my hubby Michael is in final stage renal failure. BUT an amazing family friend, one of my son's best friends,  is donating her kidney!! The surgery has been scheduled for February 18. We've been waiting almost a year, but once they found another "pair" - one of whom donates their kidney to Michael, while our donor will donate hers to the other person in that pair. Most incredible swap ever!

The Kidney Transplant Program pays all the medical costs, but not for time she will have to take off work without pay. She works two jobs, and one involves more lifting than she is allowed to do for quite some time, so she'll be out more than a month for one job and maybe two months for the other. She has no paid leave or vacation days and so will be missing some paychecks!

 

She has never wavered in her commitment to perform this most generous of all acts. She is truly saving Michael's life and we want to help defray her expenses.
