Help with Memorial Service for Lionel Burgess

Donation protected
Hello Family, Friends and Community.  I am Deboraha L. Sallee {Burgess} and my brother Lionel Burgess passed on Sunday May 16, 2021 he was 67 years old and would have been 68 on June 09, 2021.  He Passed of COVID-19 which compromised his lung cancer and Lonnie has no life insurance.  I as his older sister and his other younger sister Valerie Murphy {Burgess} would love to give him a memorial service.  We just do not have enough funds to do that.

We lost our sister Lynda Davis {Burgess}, who was 10 months older than me in August, 2018 and my younger brother Gregory Burgess in February, 2019 and our parents Arthur and Evelyn Burgess over 15 years ago although they all  had life insurance it put a emotional toll on us and now our brother Lonnie has left us.

Here are some words from Ifoma {Corniel} Stubbs about his first cousin who he was raised with:  When I was a young boy I looked up to him. When I was in the second grade I helped him with his paper route living in Battle Creek Michigan which is where I was born. We would ride our bikes all over Battle Creek. Lionel was fast on his bike and on his feet. He had fast hands to. Back in the day slap boxing was what we did and Lionel use to slap the shit out of his competition. I have always had fast hands to. Still do. Anyway I am going to miss not being able to share those memories we share together. Life is a precious gift. I wish we could get this across to each other.

When he was younger him and Valerie became inseparable because mama had to work and she made Valerie, Lonnie's shadow which forced him to proposition her to be his secret keeper in anything he thought mama would not like to know.

When my brother Gregory went to the service Lonnie had to take on the responsibility of becoming the man of the family.  Which included four women who thought they knew everything.

As he grew he became an asset to many in the community as he would refurbish houses, detail cars, do yard work, shovel snow, he and his nephew Dwight Williamson started building sheds as he got a lot older in fact just before he passed he asked me if I would like one in my yard to get some of my stuff out of my seven storage units. I told him that was good idea but as you know I am renting  and landlord who won't even let me have fish would have conniption!!!!!!!!

Any assistance would be helpful for what we are facing now.  Thank you very much even if it is just a prayer.

One Last Note:  Please remember how important it is to have life insurance for the Loved Ones that you leave behind.

In Unity, Our Love, and God's Grace,

The Burgess Family.
