From Shane's wife Chelsea:
Shane's official diagnosis is epithelioid hemangioendothelioma. It's a very rare cancer that grows from the cells that make up the blood vessels. 1 in a million rare. Will probably be treated by Vanderbilt. It is treatable, but we don't know exactly what treatment he'll need. Oncology will be back to see us tomorrow. The research I've been able to do on this cancer says that prognosis is unique to each patient, so I pray that we have effective treatment options, that he tolerates treatment well, complete healing, and a good, long life ahead of us
Edited to add: to clarify, I say treatable, but it's so rare that there's no standard treatment. There are treatments we can try based on his individual case. Apparently, this is a very unpredictable cancer. I hope Vanderbilt gives us a clearer picture of his prognosis."
Shane has been sick for awhile before they discovered his cancer. Chelsea is self employed and is having to be off to take care of her husband. Shane's leave will only go so far. All proceeds will go towards medical bills, help with their personal bills, and groceries.
