Help with cancer medical expenses for Linda Lahti

Dear Friends and Family of Linda Lahti, 




Per our mom’s wishes, we have been holding off on setting this up. Though a lot of you have been asking how you can help, and now the time has come that we can no longer do this on our own. 

Many of you may have been aware, but some of you may not know about the condition that our Mother has been fighting. In November of 2019 she was diagnosed with Glioblastoma. This is one of the most aggressive types of cancers, and it occurs in the brain. This cancer is very difficult to remove and fully treat. On December 6th 2019, Linda went in for her first brain surgery to remove the tumor. They took what they could, but it was not a complete removal. Not even a month later, as the tumor was already growing, Linda went in again for her second brain surgery with UCSF in January of 2020. After her surgeries, she went through a series of Radiation and Chemotherapy. 




Our mom was the main provider for our family. She worked for over 20 years as a RN and for over 5 years for Dignity Health as a Case Manager. She took her position and her career very seriously. Anyone who knew her, would agree she put her whole heart into caring for her patients, and making sure they had the best. During her time working for the hospital she was awarded the Acts of Human kindness Award in 2017, which states: Linda Lahti goes the extra mile on a regular basis to coordinate the special needs of patients referred to or receiving Home Health Services. She has an amazing depth of knowledge that she shares with staff, she is patient, kind and respectful when dealing with some very frustrating situations. She is always advocating for what is best for the patient. She takes the time to listen to her patients. She never leaves at the end of her shift if she is in the middle of coordination and expecting information back. Linda’s work ethic, caring, human-kindness and dedicated professionalism is recognized by the positive recognition and thanks from hospital, home health, facility staff, and physician offices. We are so proud of our mom for all she accomplished and taught us. 




Our mom not only gave up much of her own personal time to make sure her clients were always taken care of. But as any amazing mom does, she always made sure us (Her Daughters) and family were taken care of. She supported us whole heartedly in our dreams and goals. Besides her family, one of her biggest prides and joy are her animals, and her main wish is to make sure they are taken care of. 




Once she was diagnosed, she had to resign from work. Insurance costs went up and bills came in. We have been providing the best care that we can for our mom and luckily she had some savings to use for her care. This has allowed us up until now to be able to do it on our own. There has been expenses used for trips to San Fransisco and back for appointments, necessary medications, medical equipment and supplies. All this cost has depleted what savings she had. As time is going on, her condition has been declining her health, and she needs 24/7 care. This has caused us both to have to leave our employment so we can be there for her. Though finances are becoming very difficult. 




The goal for this account is to help care for our mom for the time she has left with us. Anything after that we will use for Burial and Celebration of Life costs. As we want to honor our mom to the best of our abilities. Funds raised will also go to the on going costs of caring for her pets, as that is her main wish and we want to honor that. 




It is hard to ask for help, especially now with everything that is going on. Whatever you can assist or donate is greatly appreciated and will be used to honor Linda. Even just being able to share this helps for more to see it.
