Help with End of Life Expenses for Jordan Brown

Donation protected
**Update 12/23/2024:
Unfortunately we lost Jordan early this morning. Christmas Eve. A day after his mother's birthday. There are few words that can be said, we can only take solace in the fact that he is no longer hurting, no longer enduring excruciating pain. At this time all arrangements are being paid out of pocket by his mom and she could truly use the help as Jordan had no sort of life insurance coverage. This, of course, is not the ending we prayed and hoped for. Any contribution you can make will help alleviate some of the unbearable weight from his mom's shoulders during this time. EVERY PENNY will go to her to help get her through the difficult days ahead. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.**

Hi, thanks for clicking, if you've found yourself here you probably know Jordan, his mom, or a family member.

Jordan is only 31 years old and just spent over a month in the hospital due to being in stage 4 liver failure. While in the hospital he experienced edema, swelling of his entire body, including heart and brain. This caused several issues including slow and slurred speech and loss of his mobility. At one point the doctors had convinced us he would never leave the hospital. He is now home but confined to a hospital bed and wheelchair. He is in physical therapy, OT therapy, speech therapy, and has doctors appointments weekly that require special means of transportation and help.

At his most recent doctor appointment (Tuesday November 22) the doctor said that his current 3 month mortality rate is 20%. Until that moment doctors had told him that he was not eligible for the transplant list... but we were given great news! His doctor IS sending a recommendation to MUSC to get Jordan on the transplant list!!

This is amazing news and we pray that he is accepted! But this will mean major expenses, loss of work and income for his single mom who is 100% taking care of him financially and physically. Imagine going through something like this with your youngest child, the last thing she needs to worry about is stressing over not being able to work and pay the bills while she is literally trying to save her son's life! Add in food for his special diet, gas money for the travel, etc etc and the cost is going to add up quickly.

We don't know what to expect in the days ahead. Less than a month ago the doctors said he wouldn't make it out of the hospital and that if he did he wouldn't make it 3 months. So the 20% mortality rate (which really means 80% chance of life!) is really progress from where he has been!! We pray he continues this progress through the next 3 months, then the next 3, and so on until he can receive a new liver and a new chance at life!

We know times are tough for a lot of people but if you can donate and help, even if it's only $1, it all adds up! Please help us ensure we can provide the best quality of care we can. Please help us save his life!
