Hi, my name is Kayla and I am fundraising for my grandpa, Jay Webster.

About a month ago, grandpa Jay took a wrong step going down the stairs and fell, breaking his back and fracturing two areas in his neck. He was unable to move, and an ambulance arrived 20 minutes later. He was rushed to Morristown Hospital, where he underwent an extensive 8 hour back and neck surgery to try and repair the damage. Grandpa Jay now has a plate in his back and is in a neck brace for at least 6 months.

Since then, he has been in two different rehab care facilities undergoing therapy. Unfortunately, he still cannot walk, sit up, or do any basic functions on his own.

The recovery time for his injuries will be at least a year. This includes continuing rehab facility stay, physical therapy, doctor’s visits, transportation to and from the doctor, copays, and a visiting nurse for whenever he can come home. These medical expenses are already extensive, and we are just in the beginning stages of recovery.

Grandpa Jay recently retired and moved from Clifton to Ringwood to live with his oldest son, Randy. He enjoys taking hikes and spending time with his grandkids. 

Our family loves grandpa Jay dearly and wants to enjoy and celebrate this new chapter of his life. He deserves to enjoy his retirement without having to worry how he’ll ever be able to afford to recover from his awful injuries.
