Help with medical bills/insurance!

Peter has been hospitalized since a botched routine gallbladder surgery in November of 2016. We spent 2 1/2 months in Columbia Missouri at University Hospital on a ventilator, enduring multiple surgeries including an above the knee amputation of his left leg caused by life saving medications. He then began a stay at a St. Louis Long-term acute care hospital to learn to breathe on his own again and begin what is likely lifelong hemodialysis. After many episodes of severe hospital acquired infections and back and forth stays at St. Anthony's ICU his care has been turned over to a local long term care and rehab facility, so that he can relearn many taken for granted daily skills, holding silverware, grooming, sitting up unassisted, transferring from bed tonchair with assistance and with hopes and prayers of learning to use a prosthetic and walking again one day. Our lives have been forever changed and it has been hard for me to work a full time job due to many demands on my time to meet with doctors, or to accompany him to hospital when he is transferred for emergencies. Most recently I was involved in a car accident in which my vehicle was totalled and I sustained non-life threatening injuries but once again cost me a job. I am struggling to pay our household minimum bills and keep our medical insurance active. Our goals are to set up our home with hospital equipment sufficient to care for him at home: hospital bed, lift, wheelchair, appropriate cushions and mattresses to prevent further breakdown of his skin, and assistive devices for bathing and toileting. We are at risk of losing our medical insurance before we are able to get him home and we are trying to bring him home by the end of October, 2017. His medical needs are far from over but a hand up is needed at this time. Please if you have any questions about his health and care please feel free to ask. If your unable to help, could you please share with your friends and family that this get as much exposure as possible. Love and thanks, Kristi Rasmussen
