As many of you may already know Robert McKnight suffered a massive stroke on 12/24/22, Christmas eve. This cost him function on one half of his brain. He is paralyzed on one side, can only see from one eye, unable to speak and had severe brain swelling which required part of his skull to be removed to accommodate the swelling so it did not impact the other side of his brain that is still functioning. He spent two weeks in intensive care, another two weeks +, in a regular hospital room and was then transferred to Gainesville Health and Rehab Center. His prognosis is for hopefully after much therapy and attention, a 20% improvement. No one is really sure what that means. He is not expected to fully recover by any means. The greatest hope is he becomes able to understand and communicate in some fashion. As you can imagine the cost of all these things are staggering. He has his pension from 30 years at UPS and whatever medical insurance comes with that. This will not be enough to provide for his permanent long-term care, which will last for the rest of his life. His daughter and son are trying to navigate the insurance mine field while the insurance company continues to threaten stopping coverage and putting extreme pressure on them to find alternative solutions. His daughter is 22, his son is in his 30’s they are just regular people with regular jobs, living their lives with families of their own and were totally unprepared for something like this. Who could ever be prepared for something like this? Regardless of what the ultimate outcome of the insurance company's decision is, even if they continue coverage, it won’t be enough to cover all the medical cost he has incurred so far and will continue to incur going forward. With the help of his friends this Go Fund Me page has been established to assist his family with the ever-mounting financial burden of Robert’s long-term care. Robert is a member of the T.C Williams Titan family, a devoted father, an adoring grandfather as well as an avid outdoorsman and caretaker of our planet. He has also been a wonderful friend to anyone who ever knew him. Now is our chance to repay some of that friendship. Please donate as you are able and even if you cannot donate, please share this where possible so other may help. Thank you for your help and God Bless.
