In December of 2023, my life changed overnight. I passed out in the bathroom and, the next day, learned that my kidneys had failed. I was immediately admitted to the hospital and started dialysis. As I began the process of trying to get on the transplant list, more complications were discovered. I had to have my left kidney removed due to a small cancerous tumor, and all of my upper teeth were extracted because of a severe infection. The dental issues stemmed from childhood fillings that had failed over time, and now I need dentures—full on top and partial on the bottom. Even though I have good healthcare benefits, the costs have piled up and I find myself unable to pay all of my bills.

The money raised through this fundraiser will go directly toward paying for my dentures, covering medical bills, and helping us move to a more affordable rental property. These expenses have become overwhelming, and I am doing my best to manage everything while focusing on my health and recovery. The University of Minnesota transplant clinic will be meeting soon to decide if I will be granted an opportunity to receive a kidney and possibly a pancreas transplant. This is a critical time for me, and every bit of support will make a difference.

Honestly, I never imagined myself asking for help like this. I find myself questioning whether this is a good idea, but my circle is full of great people and I hope no one is offended by this request. Any help—whether it’s a donation, a caring text, or a phone call—would mean the world to me. I am sorry if I haven’t communicated much in the last couple of years; my health situation has truly been a full-time job.
