Anyone who knows our mom, can attest to the amazing woman she is!! She is creative, generous, kind, but most of all a strong woman in need of some support. On Mother's Day, our mom fell and hit her head. She went to the hospital where they found two hematomas. They sent her home without surgery then about 10 days later started having serious symptoms that made her go back to the hospital. At that time it was determined that surgery was needed. Surgery initially went well until she declined and became unresponsive, intubated and sent to ICU. She developed a staph infection in her lungs and also pneumonia. About 2 weeks later, due to increasing cases of COVID at the hospital, she was released. Mom was then sent home not able to do many things including walk. We had to purchase some medical equipment so she could be cared for at home while recovering. My sister has completely rearranged her life in Oregon to move to Texas to help our mom with recovery because unfortunately, also due to COVID and losing her job, our mom does not have medical insurance so many of the bills are not covered. So my sister has spent countless hours helping our mom recover at home because any in home services are just too costly for any of us to afford. Moms progression has been remarkabke and she is now able to do more than we expected. Her cognitive abilities have improved immensely and she is getting back to being her vibrant self she was prior to the incident! As UNBELIEVABLY GRATEFUL as we are for her remarkable recovery, she is now needing a second surgery. Her body is rejecting one of the titanium plates in her head and is causing a new infection. As you can imagine, a second surgery is a scary thing for us and especially our mom! The stress of the cost of the medical bills is overwhelming and we are trying to do anything we can to help her out and reduce the anxiety she has so that her recovery goes smoothly. Once our mom has made a full recovery from this surgery, we will be relocating her to Oregon where she will have access to more affordable services for her complete recovery. Anything you could do to help would be greatly appreciated even if its just positive energy sent her way
