Yvonne Martinez- Home aid after 500 bee stings
Hi, I am Nicholas Nassif and I am fundraising for my cousin Jerry Nassif and his wife Yvonne Martinez, who live in Tucson. This is a picture of Yvonne 5 years ago, and before her severe stroke. I could not find any pictures after her stroke.
On Friday, April 30, 2021, Jerry's wife, who is a stroke victim, went out on her patio at about noon and was attacked and stung by over 500 African killer honey bees. She then went unconscious. A neighbor called 911, fire department came and the paramedics transported her to the hospital.
The doctors immediately intubated her and pulled out over 500 stingers (stingers have toxins in them). She has been intubated and sedated ever since then. Her swelling has only gone down slightly. She may have a tracheotomy in a day or two.
Yvonne will most likely survive and go home eventually. However, the amount of the damage to her lungs, kidneys and body is not known, and it could be extensive and life lasting. It is too early to tell.
To make matters worse, Jerry has been on dialysis for seven years and is not in good health. He is in rehabilitation, weak and learning to walk again as a result of hernia operation. Yvonne had been taking care of Jerry, but most likely won't be able to any more.
When and if the time comes when Yvonne and Jerry go home, they will need extensive home health care services and related care for a long period of time.
Thank you for your donation.
