Go in for your routine physical, it will be fine they say. Well, not so much this year. Upon my physical, my doctor found a large mass in my lower abdomen. I was whisked off for an X-ray first, then a CT scan that confirmed the suspicion. The mass was indeed a very large ovarian tumor. I was able to meet with a wonderful OBGYN/Oncologist who scheduled me for surgery. The mass was removed on February 12th and thankfully it was benign.
But it was major surgery: removal of the mass, full hysterectomy, and a full open abdominal surgery, which meant not only surgery but 4 days in the hospital and about 6 weeks of recovery. I'm thankful my company is able to offer short-term disability, but the medical bills will be a lot, so anything that can help will.
Any money not needed by me will be donated back to a worthy cause by me to pass along the good karma.
