Help with Max's Emergency Vet Bills and Ongoing Care
Donation protected
This past Thursday, July 25th, we came home to our baby boy, Max, having a grand mal seizure, aspiration out the mouth, and using the bathroom on himself. It was one of the scariest moments of our lives. After a very dangerously fast drive to the pet hospital, they took him from us and started the work. After about 45 minutes to an hour, Max's seizure had ceased, and he was breathing very heavily and deeply. At this time, his reflexes were non-functioning, which meant that he had little to no brain function.
The next morning, there was still very little progress. However, by mid-afternoon, we came back from home with Max's unicorn toy and his favorite green squeaky ball. We tried squeaking it with no response. After about another 20-30 minutes, I insisted James try again - in addition, I also blew on his face (something I always tease him with since he shakes his ears when air hits them). Max opened his eyes and rose. We were unbelievably grateful to see him awake and moving. Over the past two days he has defied the expectations of the vets and us - literally coming back from the dead. He has some residual pneumonia which requires antibiotics from the aspiration, and will now be on anti-seizure medicine for potentially the rest of his life.
With that said, to bring back Max from the brink of death, it has not been cheap. Despite having insurance, we are looking at over $4,000 in vet bills after coverage and will continue to increase as we will need to pay for his medicine moving forward. Any help you can provide, would be greatly appreciated.
